India Relief Volunteer
Hello,
My name is Aaron, I'm a 32 year old American currently in Poznan, Poland. I have skills in computers (primarily programming) and teaching English (though I do not speak any asian languages), and of course I am a somewhat fit man who can do any type of physical work. What I don't have is a lot of money or belongings, so I can't contribute financially, just in time and effort. I'm trying to find the best way to help, whether from here or from there. Any information on what I can do, and logistics about travel to India and the surrounding countries, would be greatly appreciated. Also, I need to be back in Poland by mid-February. If you have to visit India, you would need a visa sponsored by someone here and you can attach yourself with a non-governmental organisation that works on Tsunami relief to go around helping physically. It would probably help for you to get in touch with Red Cross locally to find out if you can get attached to them for a while. It might help. Alternatively, it would help if you can speak to people in the US or in Poland to coordinate relief and rehabilitation material as donations and send them across to India. If you are interested, I will try to provide you with as much information as possible on that front!

bravo pour votre initiative
comme beaucoup d'Européens j'ai été saisi par l'ampleur des dégats et des conséquences pour les années à venir, surtout économiques.
Ayant eu l'occasion d'aller en Inde (Calcutta, Bénarès et Puri)je mesure l'ampleur de la catastrophe sur le quotidien des régions cotières touchées.
Français de la région Bretagne je suis avant tout trés sensible à l'activité économique locale de ces régions dont la pêche est l'essentiel de l'activité.
Des pêcheurs ont perdu leurs bateaux, 20.000 rien que sur la région de Pondichery si j'ai bien compris.La perte de leur instrument de tavail ne leur permet plus de travailler pour subvenir aux besoins de leurs familles, avant des mois, des années peut être définitivement.
Au delà de l'aide d'urgence, je pense qu'un programme de reconstruction de ces bateaux de pêche serait d'un grand secours et plus éfficace à long terme sur l'économie locale.
Pouvez vous me donner des informations sur la réalité de la situation, me donner des contacts localement, et me donner votre impression sur ce qui pourrait être fait, et ce que vous en pensez.
